Whisky Glenrothes 1994 Speyside Embouteilleur indépendant Chieftain's Elevé en fût de Xérés La distillerie Glenrothes -ou Glen Rothes, les deux orthographes étant possibles- fut fondée en 1878 par James Stuart, gérant de Macallan. En 1897, Highland Distillers la rachète et nomme John Smith directeur...poste qu'il conserva durant 31 ans ! Agrandie en 1898, la capacité de production de Glenrothes doubla et passa à 1 300 000 litres par an. Victime comme tant d'autres d'un incendie, une partie de la distillerie partit en fumée en 1922. Les derniers aménagements furent la reconstruction des locaux de production en 1980 ainsi que l'ajout de deux alambics supplémentaires en 1989 l' abus d' alcool nuit à la santé Vente a la boutique sur commande .
